So here is a basic picture walk through of the wings I've been working on for a Morrigan cosplay.

Pretty neat eh?

It's all made out of foam, heavy gauge wire, some clay for the horns, and super glue....and of course paint/sealant....Pretty easy on the wallet but I think it turned out fan-TASTIC!

Feel free to ask me any questions!

Edit: The same process was used to make the full wings for her back.

Here's a picture of my finished cosplay in action!

I love this picture. I was going to use fabric for my Lilith wings but now...I feel like this would be easier and look better. I cant wrap my head around how to make a pocket with the fabric to stick the wings in and to show the definition of the inner parts of the wings. This is so much better!!!

I did not even need to make a pocket. The foam was so light that, I just made sure my leather bodysuit had enough support...and it was able to hold the wings up just by inserting the U shape between the back of the suit and my skin. Hope that helps!

what type of foam did you put around the wire? did you use acrylic paint? and the super glue didn't damage the foam sheets?

I used regular ol' craft foam purchased from any crafting store. You will have to be careful not to get super glue on the outside of the foam, as it will damage it, but if used properly and only in the creases and bindings it will be just fine......Finally, I did use acrylic paint. I found it needed about two coats to get the deep colors I wanted, and I finished it off with a sealant.

Hello! I'm considering doing Morrigan for a cosplay and I was wondering what clay you used on the wings?

I used bake clay, but air dry clay will work just as well. The trick is to make sure you push the horns down on the foam so it makes perfect sized intentions for you to later glue them into.
